Arthur Wright Brown arrived in Brampton in the 1870's from Markham, Ontario and started work on a farm. He later he got a job working for Francis Matthews who owned a bottling works at Queen Street East and Kennedy Road. Arthur Brown bought Matthews business and trademark grape design in 1892* and renamed it Brown's Bottling Works which survived until 1911* when a fire destroyed the plant. Brown's Bottling Works manufactured Cream Soda, Lemon Sour, Root Beer and Stone Ginger.
